Our client has an opening for a project and senior project accountant out of the construction industry! They are looking for someone with the below skillset:Title: Project AccountantSenior Project AccountantLocation: Chantilly, VAPay: $40-50hr on contractSalary: $80-105K on conversionIdeal Candidate: 3-5 yrs experience in project accountingSubcontractor background and cost-plus contract experience (huge plus)Project Controller background if from smaller construction companyStrong collaborator and looking for long term growthWe are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project AccountantSenior Project Accountant to join our dynamic construction team. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills combined with a deep understanding of project management principles. This role will be responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, cost tracking, and timely reporting. Responsibilities:Assist with preparing and analyzing project budgets as well as project billings in regards to contract requirementsAssess project costs vs. project budgets and analyze financial reportsMonitor project expenses and track costs of labor, materials, and overhead expenses. Ensure compliance with insurance, lien waivers, vendors, W-9s and retention.Handle cost-plus contracts and preparation of status reports. Maintain up to date budget information in COINs and analyze risks and opportunities per project, providing insights to mitigate financial impacts. Prepare monthly financial statements and project progress reports for management review.Maintain accurate project accounting records, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards.Generate ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requested by stakeholders.Assist in the preparation of tax filings and other regulatory compliance requirements.Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field ideal but not required- 3+ years of experience in project accounting or related role within the construction industry- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle ideal- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.- Knowledge of construction industry regulations and practices is a plus.
