We are currently seeking an Advanced Android Engineer to work in one of our locations. Location: Cincinnati, OH; Charlotte NC; Chicago, IL; Boca Raton, FL; Portland, ORHybrid role 2-3 days a week in the office This Android engineering role builds, enhances, and supports native components as part of Kroger's content management eco-system powering our omni-channel customer experiences. These components are used to create, preview, and publish customer acquisition and landing screens on our app allowing Kroger to respond to market demands in real time.This role (Native AMP Experience) is critical to enabling DX content strategy for the Android banner app. This role builds, enhances, and supports native AMP components that allows DX and Site Production to create, preview, and publish customer acquisition and landing screens on the banner app (i.e., Home page, BrandDepartment, and Seasonal pages). This role will engineer and ship native components and capabilities allowing Kroger to respond to market demands in real time using a content management system.Identify and uphold Android engineering best practicesCollaborate with designers & product managers to iterate on the design & implementation of our productWork with Backend Engineers to build and ship featuresMonitor app performance, watch for traffic drops related to app usability problems & rectify the issuesImplement responsible design principles to ensure that our app renders well on most devices and is accessible.Stay up-to-date on emerging technologiesAccountable for proactively leading or supporting software engineering activities that create deliverables that guide the direction, development, and delivery of software solutions that meet business needs. Provide leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required to deliver critical business solutions. Develop target-state guidance (i.e., reusable standards, design patterns, guidelines, individual parts, and configurations) to evolve the organization s development process. Demonstrate the company s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. Responsibilities a high-quality codebase, lead design discussions, execute development against design, and navigate complex codebasethe development implementation of technology strategy within a defined set of teams. Executes against defined technology roadmap to support project portfolio and business strategythe implementation of enterprise standards across domains: operations, infrastructure, data, applications, development, security & risk, and business continuancetechnical leadership to ensure clarity between ongoing projects and the strategic objectives of the companydigital innovation by leveraging innovative new technologies and approaches to renovate, extend, and, transform the existing core technology base and IT estate- Implement high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the current and future state, typically in sync with the budgeting or other capital planning processesopportunities with costbenefit analysis to leadership to shape sound architectural decisionsthe analysis of the technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvementteam members in software development principles, patterns, processes and, practicesthe capture and reuse of intellectual capital, including code objects and componentsand review architectural diagrams, interface specifications, class structures and, other design documentsbe able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodationBasic Qualifications: Degree Computer Science or in a STEM majoryears of experience working on large scale (Enterprise) Android applications.experience using Kotlin and the Android SDKwith modern Android libraries; specifically looking for Jetpack Compose experience.translate wireframes and mock-ups into reusable components and layouts.with Android build, test, debug, and CICD tools to compile, test, package, and ship large scale Android applications.problem-solving skills, detail oriented, works well in a team and individually.solid understanding of best practices and techniques regarding scalability, performance, accessibility, and security Preferred Qualifications:capability to build, mentor and maintain an inclusive team-based environment.building solutions using elastic architectures (preferably Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform)About US: From one tiny Cincinnati grocery store more than a century ago, we've grown into what today is the nation's largest grocer with nearly 2,800 stores in 35 states operating under 28 different names.
