This role is critical in establishing a solid technical foundation that the business can build upon to support expansion. As a leader of the new technology division, you will have demonstrated success in scaling an e-commerce business as well as deep expertise in and knowledge of E2E e-commerce operations and the platforms that enable them. As this is a new team at a start-up company, this role currently does not have any direct reports but will be responsible for hiring and vetting freelancers and development agencies to support the technical vision and company objectives. This role will report to the VP, E-commerce. This is a unique opportunity to join a brand that is primed for its next stage of growth. Our hybrid work policy requires that you are in-office from Monday to Thursday, with the option to work from home on Fridays. ResponsibilitiesEstablish a modern and scalable technical vision for Maiden Home's architecture that enables omnichannel business growthStay up-to-date with Shopify platform updates, emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends Develop and execute an engineering roadmap that is aligned with your defined technology objectives, KPIs, and outcomes Collaborate and clearly communicate engineering decisions with clear rationale to non-technical team members across the organizationAssess vendors and negotiate contracts to ensure mutually agreed-upon terms and conditionsLead vendor and technology partner conversations to conform to technical requirements, processes, and coding best practices Recruit, vet, and manage freelance developers and development agenciesWork closely with product managers, designers, freelance developers, and development agencies through the SDLC, including discovery and design, estimation, implementation, QA and release; advocating for, and supporting clear agile processes Support the design, development, and maintenance of our Shopify based e-commerce platform, including customizing and developing Shopify themes, templates, and components to meet business requirementsImplement new features and functionality using Shopify APIs, Liquid and Extensibility programming languages, and other web technologiesDrive experimentation and foster a continuous learning culture   Monitor reliability and performance of all internal systems to suggest improvementsOptimize site performance, speed, and scalability to improve user experience and conversion ratesTroubleshoot and resolve technical issues, bugs, and errors across front-end and back-end systems and platformsDesign, build, and manage our data infrastructure; lead building and maintaining data governance and security, working collaboratively and regularly with cross-functional stakeholdersEnsure compliance with security regulationsReview and update policies relevant to internal systems and equipmentCreate and manage technical documentation outlining current systems and technology implementationsQualifications8+ years of experience with hands-on software development, architecture, and data technologies within a modern Agile environment4+ years of leadership/management experience with engineering and defining and implementing a technology vision at an e-commerce companySolid understanding of responsive web, site performance, SEO, and conversion rate optimization, including Shopify theme customization, app development and API integrationsProficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, as well as Liquid and Extensibility programming languages. Knowledge of front-end frameworks/libraries such as React and Vue.js.
