Job Description

Summary:This position designs mechanical and structural components using SolidWorks CAD software. Provides general arrangement, structural, and shop drawings to fab shop and field crews. Works at lead engineer's direction on product development projects.Read on to fully understand what this job requires in terms of skills and experience If you are a good match, make an application.Essential Functions:Develop conceptual designs and complete detailed design work.Produce detailed design drawings in current design software.Evaluate and check drawings for accuracy and completeness.Review product designs and changes under the supervision of the Project Engineer or Engineering Manager and produce appropriate model or drawing revisions.Manage project bill of material and generate detailed reports.Perform department administration duties, including writing reports, taking measurements, and assisting in overall project planning.Communicate with vendors as needed.Participate in customer meetings as needed.Support production during project fabrication.Support project management and preconstruction teams as needed.Knowledge of close tolerance machining and dimensioning schemes.Knowledge of sheet metal and welded fabrication.Ability to measure with tape measure and close tolerance measuring devices to determine part dimensions when needed.Develop multiple design options/concepts quickly for design review discussions as requested.Produce impromptu models for use as sales or communication tools as requested.Develop clear and concise structural and shop fabrication drawings in accordance with ANSI standards.Contribute to team effort and provide valuable input on projects, design reviews, and field issues.Maintain timely, professional, and appropriate email, in-person, and phone correspondence with coworkers, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.Required Education and Experience:5-10 Years experience with SolidWorks in a manufacturing environment.Associates Degree or equivalent combination of mechanical engineering education and experience.Strong analytic and problem-solving skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsExperience with Hydraulic System designLocal candidates only, no relocation or visa assistance will be offered.
