Do not wait to apply after reading this description a high application volume is expected for this opportunity.JOB DESCRIPTION: As a Project Bridge Engineer for the Texas Transportation Team in you will work directly with the Structural Team Leader providing engineering and technical design. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining client and industry partner relationships, assist with developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and providing project deliverables that meet quality standards. Mentor and train less experienced team members in day-to day activities including routine technical design, processes, and company procedures. • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Ability to contribute and work well with a team to meet schedule milestones • Experience with structural designs and drafting software packages. Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, OpenBridge, BGS, PGSUPER, PSTRS14, CAP18, Spcolumn, LPILE, PYWALL, MidasCivil are all a plus • Prior experience or familiarity with TxDOT, NTTA, and ODOT preferred • TxDOT Precertification's required or ability to obtain certification in Bridge Design and Bridge and Non-Bridge Class Culvert and Inlet Design, and Multi-Level Interchange Design (considered a plus) • Experienced in use of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, other AASHTO Bridge Specs, TxDOT Bridge Design Manual - LRFD, and TxDOT Bridge Detailing Guide experience required • Experienced in: 1. Mid-level level design of structures in accordance with applicable design codes (AASHTO, AREMA, etc.), and in accordance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Background should include design of prestressed concrete I-beam bridges, retaining walls, and miscellaneous structures as a minimum. Experience in design of other prestressed girder types preferred; experience in design of steel girders (straight and horizontally curved) is a plus. 2. Bridge Layouts: Establishes horizontal and vertical geometrics consistent with roadway design utilizing various programs; determine span lengths, coordinate roadway widths, establish superstructure types, substructure types and location, determine foundation types. 3. Superstructure Design: Slab design, design of prestressed concrete beams (I-girders, U-beams, box beams, slab beams, etc.), and design of bearing pads. Experience with steel design (rolled beams, plate girders - straight and curved) and design of bearing assemblies is considered a plus. 4. Substructure Design: various bent types including multi-column, single column, wall, and inverted T, and foundations including drilled shafts, spread footings, and piling. 5. Retaining Wall Design: various wall types including cast-in-place spread footing, drilled shaft, soil nail, and tied back walls. 6. Miscellaneous Structures Design: various structures including box culverts, junction boxes, manholes, special utility and/or other structures. 7. Materials Design Expertise: experience with a variety of materials including cast-in-place concrete and prestressed concrete; experience with precast and/or post-tensioned concrete and/or steel a plus
