JOB PURPOSE:The primary role of the Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor is to manage the Quality Assurance programs and technical staff. Review the data generated during testing, ensure samples are pulled and shipped as required by Alphia procedure and customer requirements, test results are received and logged, and action taken when necessary. The Supervisor works with the Quality Manager to ensure the Laboratory is staffed and equipped to meet daily needs. The Supervisor assists the Quality Manager in investigations, reporting, and auditing. Do you have the skills to fill this role Read the complete details below, and make your application today.DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:· Product Inventory Managemento Ensure proper implementation of Positive Release program.o Recommend disposition to nonconforming products.· Analytical Laboratory:o Must have demonstrated lab skills: Able to operate, troubleshoot, and calibrate the NIR, Aw meter, Computrac moisture analyzer, gravity convection oven, calipers, pH meter, laboratory weigh scales, vacuum chamber for seal checks (PC), thermometers, Leco combustion analyzer, CEM analyzer, and other equipment as needed, so you have the ability to train and observe staff.o Verify NIR accuracy through outside laboratory wet chemistry results, and alert Quality Manager of significant differenceso Work with laboratory equipment vendors to keep equipment running properly, schedule PM's, and troubleshoot problems.o Monitor testing supplies inventory and order from approved suppliers when needed.o Knowledge of interpreting wet chemistry results· In-Process Sampling and Testing:o Ensure all routine tests required for both technicians complete Processing and Packaging side.o Oversee AAFCO Proficiency Testing program for QA Lab Technicianso Train new Quality Technicians on written Work Instructionso Review data collected from routine tests into Quality Manager software.o Support R&D and customers during trial production runso Oversee management of retention samples for ingredients product, and packaging.· Regulatory Requirements:o Ensure samples are pulled for testing as required in product specifications.o Prepare export documents as required for customer's products.o Assist Quality Manager in preparing for and assisting during customer and third part audits. · Food Safety and Quality Management Systems:o Pull production run reports of analyses data as required by QA Check Off Sheets for customers.o Track and update Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for QA departmento Support Traceability and Mock Recall programso Knowledge and proficiency in all Alphia Business Systems as relates to position.o Support SQF certificationo cGMP compliance supporto Participate as member of in-house GMP Audit teams.o Proficient with HACCP complianceo Participate as member of the Food Safety / HACCP Teamo Monitor and train team on X-Ray and metal detection programs.o Monitor and train product changeover, cleaning, and sanitation; assist with inspections required before product startup.o Create, update, and train team on company FSQA SOPs· Microbial and Analytical Testing:o Monitor or prepare, finished product and environmental monitoring samples for micro testing and shipment. o Monitor or prepare, ingredient and finished product samples for analytical testing and shipmento Ensure proper sampling procedures are used for finished product and environmental samples.· Communication:o Communicate results of testing as appropriate.o Prepare reports for customers.o Report product deviations to plant· Staffingo Assist Quality Manager in the development and execution of programs.o Mentor Quality staff for your assigned shifts.o Schedule Quality Technicianso Manage daily employee activities such as time keeping, vacation, overtime, employee attendance policies, and disciplinary actions for Quality Teamo Provide performance feedback to employees on a regular basis including performance reviews.o Monitor accuracy of Quality technician's work on a day-to-day basis and advise Quality Manager of improvement needed or excellence to be awarded.· Quality Investigations:o Assist with investigation of Critical Quality Incidents and root cause analysis.· Other duties as assigned.COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:B.A. or B.S. degree in food science, chemistry, engineering, or related science - PreferredMinimum of three years in human food manufacturing facility, preferred; pet food manufacturing preferred; and /orMinimum of three years of experience in Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, or related technical experience; and / or Minimum of three years of experience in supervising, training, hiring, and developing of personnel; and / orMinimum of three years of experience in leading Quality Systems at a manufacturing site, contractor, or supplier. Ability to build and lead effective teams to solve problems, make decisions, and take action within the organization.Solid analytical skills.Advanced technical knowledge, communication, and people skills.
