Company OverviewRead on to find out what you will need to succeed in this position, including skills, qualifications, and experience.Ameritex Machine and Fabrication is a high mix, quick turn, and ISO 9001 2015 certified sheet metal and structural fabrication facility that uses a variety of equipment such as CNC Fiber Lasers, CNC punch presses, CNC press brakes, and tube lasers to support multiple assembly lines. As a rapid parts manufacturer, our company serves customers in energy, power generation, oil and gas, automotive, electric vehicle, and aerospace. We operate out of a state of the art 100,000 sqft facility in Conroe, Texas.We are looking for a skilled Welding Engineer to join our team in order to continually create new procedures, train new employees, and improve quality. The Welding Engineer at Ameritex will be responsible for the following:Updating, reviewing, testing and training new welders to our welding proceduresEnsure WPS and PQR records are thoroughly maintained Creating new procedures as requiredInspecting and testing weldsEnsuring welding equipment is maintained and troubleshooting with Maintenance when issues ariseReviewing drawings with supervisors and determining proper welding procedures in order to eliminate reworkProvide daily expert oversight on the shop floor and be a readily available resource for quality and supervisors in the welding department. Ensure welding is being completed to customer specification Be hands on in developing welding procedures for exotic materials or new alloysInstruct welding training classes for Ameritex EmployeesContinuously research new welding technologies that would benefit AmeritexRecommend capital expenditures to improve processesFind creative solutions to control distortion to maintain tolerancesPlay a constant role in ensuring safety requirements are metRequirements:AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Hands on Experience welding and proven track record of competency in the requirements above.Excellent Communication Skills and ability to teach on the shop floor and class room settingThorough understanding of NDE and Destructive testing methodsMust be a self started goal driven individual able to be successful with limited supervisionMust be able to weld GMAW and GTAW on carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum. Including familiarity with pulse welding. Must be willing to be hands on in the shop while training employeesMust be willing to be on the shop floor for extended periods (Standing for 6-8hrs per day maybe required depending on tasks at hand)Must be able to work flexible hours, evenings may be required to train night shift, weekends may be required to train weekend shift. Must be computer savvy with the ability to operate modern, advanced equipment as we upgrade our shop. BS Degree in Engineering, manufacturing or welding related field preferredFamiliarity with robotic welders preferredAmeritex is an equal opportunity employer.
