The position works under direct supervision, performs routine daily activities, gathers, and distributes information. The Senior Project Engineer must be flexible and adaptable team player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills. Senior Project Engineers may be assigned to specific work activities relating to Underground or Paving divisions.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Compile/maintain conformed project documentsMaintain Project PlanGrid/Viewpoint systemDevelop/maintain list of contract required submittals per the SpecificationsInitiate, prepare, review, track, and distribute SubmittalsInitiate, prepare, review, track, and distribute RFIsAttend project meetingsDevelop As-Built Plan-set and maintain as-builts throughout life of the contractAssist and/or complete project close-outReview timecards on a daily basis for accuracy of hours reported, cost codes utilized, and quantities claimed.Field measure quantities, alongside foreman, to ensure accurate reporting on a daily basis.Prepare RFI's in conjunction with Foreman/Superintendent for issues encountered in the field.Perform plan take-offs, mark-ups, color-ups, highlights using BlueBeam to assist operations staff.Perform job safety inspections with foreman - twice per month for each jobAttend weekly tailgate safety meetings - once per month for each jobPerform SWPPP Inspections for all weekly, pre/post/during, REAP, etc. On applicable projectsDevelop & update Weekly Construction Schedules, with Foreman/Superintendent/PM inputDevelop & update Critical Path Schedule, with PM oversightCoordinate trade subcontractors for work sequence/scheduleAssist Foreman/Superintendent with ordering of material deliveries to project siteIdentify/order/track long lead material procurements to conform to project scheduleTrack and inspect material deliveriesAssemble material backup tags, assign phase codes, and scan into job folderReview/approve invoices in SpectrumDevelop/maintain material tracking logs for construction materials (concrete, aggregates, asphalt, etc)Attend project meetingsDevelop Traffic Control Plans, Site Work Plans, etc. As required on contractsDevelop/budgeting of Change RequestsDevelop daily/weekly cost summaries and review with Foreman/Superintendent/PMPerform Field Quality Control inspections, along with QC/QA Subcontractor.Schedule/coordinate QC Inspections in conjunction with Project Schedule.Draft & submit PO/SA/SC Requests for ProjectsManage project close-out proceduresMaintain prioritized To-Do list, reviewed/updated with Project Manager on a weekly basis.Track & development of Cost ProposalsJob Skills & Abilities Guidelines:Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products;Knowledge of Primavera;Broad understanding of industry;Strong written and verbal communication skills;Basic math/accounting skills;Functions effectively as part of a team;Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times;Ability to understand and follow directions;Good time management skills and organizational skills;Ability to read drawings and specifications.Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's Degree - Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent;4+ years experience in Project Engineer and heavy civil preferred.Knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, etc., plus an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units required.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to manage a team of varied disciplines.EQUIPMENT USETelephone - FrequentlySmall Hand Tools - ModerateCopier - OccasionallyComputer - ModerateSOFTWARE USESpectrum, Microsoft Office Suite,SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTPre-employment background screening investigation results that are acceptable to GCC at GCC's sole discretion.Drug/alcohol test (negative test results).Background/security clearance (if applicable).Valid driver's license and clean driving record.MENTAL DEMANDSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
