This position will be based at one of several California plant locations which will be supported. Bakersfield and surrounding areas.Your day might include the following!Battery operation to include start-up, shutdown and emergency operations and maintenance.Field troubleshooting and equipment programming.Routine and non-routine preventative and corrective maintenance on our equipment.Performing operational rounds, logging equipment parameters and make adjustments as needed.Scheduling and coordinating field activities and complete reporting.Procuring plant materials and equipment via purchase orders and requisitions.Identifying root cause inefficiencies in equipment, procedural and conditional control evaluations.Use installed and portable test equipment, technical manuals, system drawings and electrical schematics to troubleshoot equipment and systems.Working with contractors and vendors during site activities.Troubleshoot equipment and system issues using installed and portable test equipment, technical manuals, system drawings and electrical schematics.The position requires being on-call to troubleshoot remotely if required.Safety is our priority, and to that end we need:Strict adherence and enforcement of safety procedures as required by VESI, NFPA70E, and OSHA.If you're a Technician superstar and you respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations and can quickly access all areas of the plant. Than we want to hear from you!Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, enter and exit vehicle without assistance,and travel overnight approximately 25% of the time out of the office by air, train or auto.Other functions include:Maintain trend reports on equipment operation for assigned system.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIREDThorough knowledge of operating a power plant or battery storage facility.Thorough knowledge and/or background for operating and maintaining mechanical and/or electrical systems. Ability to maintain electrical systems is preferred.Knowledge and understanding of PLC based instrumentation and control systems. Ability to troubleshoot, repair and calibrate is preferred.Ability to understand engineering design drawings, vendor equipment drawings and technical information.Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools and test equipment normally used in a power plant environment.Thorough knowledge of plant hazards and safety requirements.Thorough knowledge of computer based preventive maintenance programs.Computer literate in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and various other programs.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Must possess at any time a valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT's auto insurance carrier.Ability to make effective long term and instantaneous decisions.Ability to solve problems and keen attention to detail.Use discretion to balance competing priorities.Familiarity with standard power plant PPE and its proper useAvailable for off shift call in.Must be comfortable working independently and be the only company person on site.May be called upon to travel to other company sites as needed.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSOccasionally perform heavy lifting up to 75 pounds.Must be able to frequently climb to and work off of elevated platforms, ladders and walkways.Must be able to work in confined spaces and in harsh weather conditions.Must be able to wear a variety of protective equipment.This job requires sitting 30% of the time and standing 70%.The ability to work at a computer and computer monitor for long periods of time and stay alert.
