It is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to this job.*Job Summary*The Development Director of the Hospice of the Northwest Foundation reports to the Executive Director of the Skagit Regional Health Foundation to provide leadership and support of Foundation initiatives. This position is responsible for working with the Hospice of the Northwest Foundation Board of Trustees and Foundation staff to meet HNWF goals and objectives. This position is responsible for managing the Foundation budget and grants to HNW, grant writing, mail campaigns, the planned giving program and the production of the Ports of Call auction. Works effectively and cooperatively within the workplace. Location/Department specific tasks and competencies may apply.*Essential Functions*Supervision - Supervises the Development Associate and Stewardship and Annual Fund Manager of the HNWF. Sets expectations, supervises work tasks, completes performance reviews ensures that SRH policies and procedures are met.Financial Responsibilities - Responsible for oversight of Foundation funds and creation of an annual fundraising plan. Responsible for supervision of proper gift handling, investments, audit and fund reconciliation. Works with outside bookkeeper. Manages all payment of atypical requests for the HNWF and of HNWF monthly grant. Works with Foundation finance committee to oversee cash flow and ensure availability of funds. Works with investment advisors overseeing the endowment accounts. Writes and manages the annual budget in partnership with the Foundation's Finance committee.Board of Trustees Development - Coordinates and manages recruiting, selection, training and recognition of new Foundation board members.Oversight of major and planned giving efforts - Oversees Stewardship and Annual Fund manager and works in tandem to facilitate major and estate gifts. Cultivates major donor relationships and creates stewardship events.Grant identification and writing - Researches, identifies and writes grants that will assist in meeting fundraising goals. Responsible for grant result reporting.Provides oversight for Ports of Call Auction - works with Foundation staff to procure sponsorship, form committee, executive event and sees follow through and appreciation action.Foundation Marketing - Coordinates with staff to produce the annual appeal, Aspirations newsletter and annual Employee Giving Campaign. Analyzes cost vs. profit returns and mailing list usage.Meeting preparation - Responsible for and participation in bi-monthly Board of Trustee meetings and monthly finance committee meetings. Creates agendas and proper attachments. Participates in meetings and assures adherence to Foundation Bylaws and policies along with the timely resolution of committee recommendations.Communication - Serves as the line of communication between the SRH Leadership Team, HNW Operations Board, HNW Manager group and the Executive Director of Skagit Regional Health Foundation Executive Director.Administrative Filings - Responsible for filing reports with the Washington State Charities Division and the Washington State Gambling Commission.Maintain ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office (Outlook) and department specific software applications to perform work. Communicate effectively and cooperatively in the workplace. Actively contribute to the achievement of Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement activities. Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner. Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings. Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.*Education*Bachelor's degree required.*Experience/Training*Minimum five years' experience as a development professional with proven success in managing a diversified fundraising program.*License/Certifications*None required.*Other Skills*Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Proven organization skills and ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously. Attention to detail is essential. Self-motivated and self-directed. Ability to work with volunteer board, hospice staff, community members and vendors. Ability to meet deadlines. Customer services oriented. Knowledge in fundraising, event planning, grant writing and general accounting and finance principles are a must. Knowledge of volunteer management a plus.*Physical Demands and Work Environment*The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; when working in office. Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems most of the day is a function of the position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
