Job Description: We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced School Bus Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have practical experience in both diesel and gasoline-powered engines, possess strong troubleshooting abilities, and demonstrate a commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of our school bus fleet. Responsibilities: * Maintain in good repair all vehicles owned by the New London Board of Education and our partner districts. * Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel, gasoline, and propane-powered school buses * Sees all work requested in writing by drivers is given attention according to priorities. * Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently and effectively * Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs * Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely completion of tasks * Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment * Notifies Supervisor of all parts, materials, tools, or equipment required for maintenance and/or repairs of all vehicles. * Reports to Supervisor, any mechanical irregularities or deficiencies that cannot be corrected for the safe operation of the vehicles owned by the Board of Education or its partner districts. * Fill in as substitute bus driver for regular routes and field trips if needed. * Knowledge and ability to operate shop equipment. * Assist with inventory, receipt, and issuance of parts and supplies. * Frequently lifts/moves 50 lbs and occasionally 100 lbs. * Assist Ohio State Highway Patrol in annual and spot inspections. * Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor/ Administration, including transportation of students during the day, evening or weekends. Requirements: * Practical experience working with both diesel, gasoline, and propane powered engines * Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues * Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with S&P endorsement preferred * Ability to obtain a CDL with S&P endorsement if not already possessed * Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work independently as well as part of a team * Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed Benefits: * Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications * Health insurance benefits * Paidsick leave, vacation leave, and holidays * Professional development opportunities How to Apply: Interested candidates are encouraged to complete an online application via our district website at .
