In addition to maintaining over 18,000 lane miles of state highway and 4,100 bridges, WSDOT manages the world's longest floating bridge, executes an award-winning Active Transportation Plan, holds a record for the world's widest tunneling project, and operates the largest ferry system in the nation!     The Opportunity WSDOT is currently seeking a motivated engineer with strong technical, engineering, and interpersonal skills to serve as a Transportation Engineer 3 in Spokane, WA. This position is primarily responsible for high level expertise in critical areas of Project Delivery including reviewing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E), quantity checks, mentoring, quality control, and constructability. The primary duties of the position include reviewing and ensuring that PS&E elements are complete, accurate, and in conformance with WSDOT policies for project advertisement. This position will collaborate with others to ensure and improve the project review, advertisement, and project construction administration processes to meet project delivery business needs. What to Expect This position is part-time, as needed, to fill workforce shortfall during peak times of the year. Work hours will be less than 60 hours per month.   Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you will: * Conduct reviews, leads, and make recommendations regarding PS&E development and review. * Conduct PS&E constructability review, quantity checks, specification review and development, estimate review. * Provide scheduling support, change order preparation and review, documentation review, and project closeout documentation. * Mentor and occasionally lead staff.   Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required: * One (1) or more years of experience as a Transportation Engineer 2 or equivalent.  It is preferred that qualified candidates also have: Knowledge of WSDOT Design Manual and other design requirements.
